The mission of the Colorado Dental Society of Anesthesiology is to provide a forum for education and achievement in order to promote safe and effective patient care for all dentists who have an interest in anesthesiology, sedation and the control of anxiety and pain.

Dr. Kamal Busaidy is Professor and Vice Chair of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency program at UTHealth Houston, where he also directs the Hinds Academy Clinical Simulation Center and oversees the OMS faculty practice. He earned his dental degree in the UK in 1992, completed his OMS residency at UTHealth in 2002, and has since served as faculty, including roles as Co-director of the Texas Shriners Cleft Lip and Palate team.


Dr. Arielle “Aree” Freed is a board-certified dental anesthesiologist and Diplomate of the American Dental Board of Anesthesiology, where she also helps develop exam content. She earned her DDS from the University of Washington and completed anesthesiology residency at NYU Langone in 2022. Based in the Bay Area, she runs a mobile anesthesia practice serving over 100 offices and lectures widely on safe anesthetic care in dentistry.


Dr. Julia Hickey is an Assistant Professor in Pediatric Anesthesiology at Children’s Hospital Colorado. She received her Doctor of Medicine and Master of Surgery (MD, CM) degree from McGill University in 2016. She completed a combined residency in Pediatrics and Anesthesiology at Boston Children’s Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Hospital in 2021 followed by an Academic Pediatric Anesthesiology fellowship at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia in 2023.
